Outcast is an action-adventure video game developed by Belgian developer Appeal and released by Infogrames for Windows in 1999. The game was critically acclaimed and was named the "Adventure Game of the Year" by GameSpot in 1999.[2] In 2001, Appeal developed a sequel, called Outcast II: The Lost Paradise, which was never finished due to bankruptcy. In 2010, the game was re-released via digital distribution on GOG. In 2014, Outcast was remastered as Outcast 1.1, after the original developers reacquired the franchise IP.
The DVD version of Outcast will ship with a multitude of bonuses afforded by the large storage capacity of DVD discs that aren't found on the standard Outcast CD-ROM. They are:
* French, English, and German voices.
* French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Brazilian, and Spanish subtitles.
* "Making of" segments on all the game's video sequences.
* Windows95/98 desktop wallpaper.
* The game's original soundtrack as performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.
* Electronic versions of the original US, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Brazilian manuals.
* AC3 digital sound compression.
