The Microsoft Encarta Premium 2009 multimedia encyclopedia combines more than 62,000 detailed articles, immersive research experiences, and thousands of trusted Web links to some of the most relevant—and age-appropriate—sites on the Web, all maintained by a team of dedicated editors.
In March 2009, Microsoft announced it was discontinuing the Encarta disc and online versions. The MSN Encarta site in all countries except Japan was closed on October 31, 2009.
